The Dead Daisies parted ways with drummer Brian Tichy and welcomed Tommy Clufetos back into the lineup last March. Neither the band nor Tichy revealed why he left, but John Corabi recently discussed the matter with Hear 2 Zen Magazine:
“I don’t know totally, to be honest with you, what went down between Brian and everybody, but I think he had some prior commitments with Gene Simmons and some other people that he’s working with.”
The singer added:
“I don’t know what happened with that. I really would rather not speculate, but it’s unfortunate. I love Brian. We wish him the best of luck, but we’re just excited at this point about the new record.”
The Recent Drummer Change
Tichy announced his departure on X by writing:
“I was kicked out of The Dead Daisies… More to come…”
Meanwhile, The Dead Daisies revealed Clufetos’ return and their US summer tour with a group photo on Instagram. The post read:
“We’re hitting the road in the USA this Summer for a limited number of killer dates in some of our favorite cities! We’re gonna rip up these joints, playing some new music and, of course, all of your favorites! We’re happy to welcome TDD alumni Tommy Clufetos back to the lineup, so strap yourself in for these ball-tearing shows! Stay tuned; we’re working on getting the ticket links…. In the meantime, sign up for ticket notifications!”
Upcoming Record And Tour
The US tour will kick off on June 6. The Dead Daisies’ new release ‘Light ‘Em Up’ will follow the tour three months later.
John Corabi said of the album:
“We’re very excited about a ton of things happening as of late. We’ve been working really hard on new material with our good pal Marti Frederiksen down at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals and at Sienna Studios in Nashville. We can’t wait for you all to hear what we’re doing and have done! We’ve also brought back our long-time buddy (and Daisies alumni) Tommy Clufetos to kick this new music in the teeth. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our incredibly supportive friends, fans, and family out on the road, right here in the ‘Good Old U.S. of A’ kicking off June 6… Thank you, we love you!”
The title track from the record came out as the band’s first single in two years on May 10. It was also the band’s first single with Corabi since 2018.
