Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 has made it clear many times that he has so much respect for the former guitarist Mick Mars. More recently, he praised the guitarist during a chat with 95.5 KLOS and recalled feeling sorry for his ‘painful’ performances with the band.
“Poor Mick. He has horrible disease and the poor guy,” John 5 explained. “If I have like a weird paper cut I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I can do the show,’ and you got Mick Mars out there. I would always say he’s the toughest guy I know because he’s getting up there and just killing it in pain but just playing. I’m like, ‘Wow.’ I have such respect for him.”
“He didn’t want to tour and things like that, so they asked me. I was like, ‘Absolutely I would love to do it.’ They gave me the songs and of course, I didn’t want to say, but I knew every single song. I knew how to play them all,” he added.
This came a week after John 5 said that Mötley Crüe fans like him because he respects the former guitarist. He discussed how he feels Mötley Crüe fans show him the same respect he has for Mick Mars’ solos.
“They have been so accepting and because I love Mick and I play the solos exactly how they were written and recorded,” the guitarist said in the interview when asked if he feels accepted by the fans. “I’m not like playing all this crazy stuff over ‘Looks That Kill’ or something, or ‘Home Sweet Home.’”
John 5 joined Mötley Crüe when Mick Mars left the band due to his health challenges back in October 2022.
Mötley Crüe will be releasing a new EP called ‘Cancelled.’ It will include three new tracks — ‘Dogs Of War,’ the title track, and a cover of Beastie Boys’ ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).’
