During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, John 5 reflected on the relationship among Mötley Crüe members.
“Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Just like [the song] ‘The Dirt’ and all the other songs on ‘The Dirt’ [soundtrack, which was released in 2019],” the guitarist replied when asked if he contributed to Crüe’s two new songs, ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)’ and ‘Dogs Of War.’ “Yeah, me and Nikki work amazing together. And Tommy [Lee, Mötley Crüe drummer] is incredible. He’s a great writer.”
John 5 talked more about the songwriting process of the band, “So everybody just gets together and does it all together. And I think there’s something very special about that because we don’t see a lot of bands nowadays that are super close. And I was just talking to Tommy seconds before I got up here. He was just calling. ‘Hey, dude, what’s up?’ I think that’s really important, and you don’t see that a lot nowadays.”
The musician also discussed Mötley Crüe’s upcoming third Las Vegas residency, “We are super, super excited. And Tommy is a whiz with that stuff, with the Dolby Atmos and all that. We’re so excited. But I love Vegas, and I just can’t wait. It’s gonna be insane — absolutely insane, like a Mötley Crüe show you’ve never seen before, or heard before.”
The residency will feature 11 shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM in March and April 2025. They previously performed in Vegas in 2012 for ‘Mötley Crüe Takes On Sin City’ and in 2013 for ‘Evening In Hell.’
The group kicked off their Hollywood Takeover with a surprise entrance at the Troubadour on October 8. In a video shared on social media, a trash truck arrives and dumps trash on the street, and the band members pop out. They added a caption to the clip, “Mötley Crüe gets dumped back out in a trash truck on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood for night 1 of the HÖLLYWOOD TAKEÖVER!”
They also reminded fans about a charity auction with stage-used instruments from the show, all signed by the band. The proceeds went to Covenant House International.
