John 5 thinks it’s better to continue touring with a new member instead of stopping the band after losing someone.
In a new conversation with Jeremy White, the guitarist initially said he’s worried about the decline of rock bands, explaining:
“It’s very strange, because all these bands, they’re slowly going away. And it’s totally scary to me, because we have good rock ‘n’ roll. But we need more good rock ‘n’ roll. We need more bands to come out there. We need more bands to say, you know, ‘Look at me!’ I can’t wait to see new rocks. We need them, because they’re going away.”
John 5 believes that if a band loses members but wants to keep going, bringing in new members is the best option:
“I’m speaking as a fan. I would love to see AC/DC one more time. I would love to see… I mean, incredible. Just take The Rolling Stones. What if, when Brian [Jones] died, what if The Stones were like, ‘That’s it. No more Rolling Stones.’ We’d have a few records. Unbelievable, huh?”
John 5 Thinks The Music Industry Is Better Today
The musician thinks today’s world enables rockers to better communicate with their audience. In May 2021, John 5 gave some advice to the young bands who try to make it in the music scene. During an appearance on The Sessions Panel, he said:
“Well, I think the music industry today is way better than what it was back in the day. And everyone’s going to be like, ‘What? You’re crazy! Music’s free,’ and blah blah blah. But nowadays, you are able to go on Instagram or YouTube and be a star. The world is your audience. You can play for someone in Russia, or Illinois, or China, or anywhere you want – the world is watching.”
The guitarist added:
“So give them something to watch and you’ll make more money doing it because the record companies and all these people will take all of that money but now you are in control. The individual is in control, there are so many other ways to make money nowadays, and it’s important for people to understand that.”
In his recent interview, John 5 also said that bands like Queen and their decision to continue with Adam Lambert are great because they make you enjoy the music and forget about life for a while. Music should be fun and enjoyable.
