In a recent Instagram post, Joey Jordison’s family told fans Slipknot isn’t the same without him.
They shared an ‘S’ letter drawn by the late drummer and wrote in the caption:
“The first tribal ‘S’ drawn by Joey on the desk that was handed down to him by his dad. To the fans-thank you for always supporting and loving Joey. You guys meant the world to him. We love you, Joey. Forever our number 1.”
Fan Reactions To The Family’s Message
In the comments, fans generally talked about his absence from Slipknot. One wrote:
“Without Joey, there is no Slipknot.”
Another one also agreed:
“He’s not a part of Slipknot. He IS Slipknot. We miss you and love you, dear Joey.”
One other fan said:
“Joey and Paul was the heart and the brain of band!!! What they did will never be erased.”
Jordison’s Estate Sued Slipknot
Last year, TMZ reported claims that Slipknot members Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan were accused of profiting from Jordison’s death. Jordison’s estate sued the band, alleging they used his passing to promote their 2022 album, ‘The End, So Far.’ They said it was dedicated to him and influenced by his death. The lawsuit also claimed Slipknot falsely stated they reached out to Jordison’s family to offer condolences:
“While family, friends, and fans mourned the loss of the legendary drummer, neither bandmate expressed condolences to Jordison’s family after his passing. Instead, Taylor and Crahan heartlessly sought to profit off of Jordison’s death.”
They went on to explain their accusations against the two members:
“Taylor publicly dedicated ‘The End, So Far’ to Jordison, claiming that the realization of Jordison’s passing ‘crept in’ while making the album. Taylor even acknowledged that he and Crahan had mistreated Jordison in an interview, telling fans that they ‘were hoping to mend fences with him, and it’s one of those things that tells you: whatever you need to do, do it now because you never know when you’re gonna lose somebody.’”
Steamroller, LLC claimed Slipknot kept 22 of Joey’s belongings, including his Pearl drum set and Adidas sneakers, despite agreeing to return everything after his departure from the band in 2013. These items are allegedly displayed in Slipknot’s traveling museum, Knotfest.
The lawsuit suggested Slipknot never intended to honor their agreement, made when they removed Jordison due to health issues. Slipknot denied these claims and sought to have the lawsuit dismissed.
