Joe Satriani now owns modded EVH Frankenstein, and apparently, this might cause some trouble for him.
In a new interview with Jeremy White, the guitarist showed off his custom-modded guitar that might likely cause Eddie Van Halen to ‘come back and kill him.’ He said:
“It’s my own mod on Frankenstein. Eddie’s gonna come back and kill me!”
Still, Satch seems to be very pleased with how the mods turned out. Satriani mentioned that ‘master luthier Gary Brawer’ did the changes, and he did them to honor Eddie Van Halen. He added:
“[Eddie] was a tinkerer and an inventor and thank God. It sounds really good, [it’s a] fun guitar.”
What Mods Did Satriani Add?
Eddie often experimented with Fernandes Sustainer pickups. However, he usually added them to his Peavey Wolfgang guitars, rather than his Frankenstein.
Satriani told Jeremy White about his mods and revealed that he removed a few pieces too:
As Satriani gears up for the ‘Best of All Worlds’ tour, he revealed the extent of his gear adjustments.
He’s partnering with 3rd Power Amps to craft a custom tube amp to replicate Eddie’s guitar tone. Rehearsal footage also shows he will be using both his Ibanez signature guitars and EVH models on stage.
