Jimmy Page started another feud with Robbie Williams over plans to cut down a ‘fungus-infested’ tree.
The feud started again after Williams asked the council to remove a tree in his garden. His tree expert said the tree has honey fungus. However, neighbors have objected to the removal. While Page isn’t named in the objection, he had opposed Williams’ tree-cutting plans last year.
“There is no explanation as to why this tree need be felled, only a series of photos showing parts of it are damaged,” the objection said.
It added, “Should there not be a written report that accompanies each proposed felling and what courses of action could be done before the final resort of felling this tree?”
The two, who live in West London, have been in a feud since 2014. Page first opposed Williams’ home renovations, worried the vibrations would cause ‘catastrophic damage.’
Even though Williams got permission to renovate his £17.5 million home, he complained he couldn’t move in and later called Page ‘mentally ill,’ though he apologized. The feud reignited in 2018 when Williams wanted to build an underground gym and pool.
Page again worried the vibrations from the work could cause ‘irreversible damage.’ That year, the council allowed Williams to go ahead with the renovations. So, Williams won and worked on a super basement with a pool, gym, and shower.
Later, in 2022, Page lost a legal battle against Williams. Several months after the guitarist lost a legal case, Williams decided to build a 20-foot fence this time. A statement about the application said, “It has been noted that due to the use of existing wall elements and the significant retention of soil within the plot, wall elevations are low and allow passers-by a view of the garden.”
It continued, “As part of a proposed landscaping scheme, the designer has proposed the use of trellis panels as a low-impact way of increasing the privacy within the garden. These will be fixed to the inside of the garden wall using reversible fixings or to posts cast into the soil in certain where there are no tree root protection zones.”
“These will be installed whilst preserving existing planting and are to be painted in dark grey. It is our view that said intervention will have negligible impact on the heritage value of the property while adding a level of privacy to inhabitants whilst using the garden,” it lastly said.
Williams will play himself in the biopic ‘Better Man,’ releasing on Christmas Day in the US. The film covers his life from childhood to his time in Take That and his solo career.
