Jerry Cantrell thinks his upcoming solo album is a ‘serious work.’
After the release of his new single ‘Vilified’ with Robert Trujillo, the Alice in Chains guitarist shared more about his next solo album, ‘I Want Blood.’ He said the following in a statement:
“This record is a serious piece of work. It’s a motherf*cker. It’s hard, no doubt, and completely unlike ‘Brighten.’ And that’s what you want, to end up in a different place. There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing.”
Cantrell’s fourth solo LP comes out on October 18 via Double J Music. The album includes guest appearances from Greg Puciato of Better Lovers, Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, and others.
Besides ‘Vilified,’ the record includes eight more tracks: ‘Off the Rails,’ ‘Afterglow,’ ‘I Want Blood,’ ‘Echoes of Laughter,’ ‘Throw Me a Line,’ ‘Let It Lie,’ ‘Held Your Tongue,’ and ‘It Comes.’
Cantrell Had Teased His Album
Not long ago, Cantrell teased his new project with a mysterious Instagram post. He shared a video, writing:
“As if you don’t know.”
His post also had a link to his website. The website shows the same text and an ‘Enter’ button. Clicking it revealed the many-armed Cantrell from the photo above. After this Instagram post, the rocker cleared up the mystery about his new project and announced on X:
“My new single, ‘Vilified’ is out Thursday, July 25 at 9 PM PT / Midnight ET.”
Jerry’s latest solo album, ‘Brighten,’ came out in October 2021. It was his first solo project in 19 years, apart from Alice In Chains. Jerry co-produced it with Tyler Bates and Paul Figueroa. Cantrell started his North American tour with Bush and Candlebox on July 26 at Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend, Oregon. The tour goes until mid-September.
