Jennifer Aniston looked Picture Perfect on the 2024 Emmys red carpet.
But everything — including her glittery gown, side-swept locks, and megawatt smile — came second to her long lashes, which were so voluminous we assumed they were extensions. But, to our surprise, they were the product of layering two mascaras from the designer brand Kendall Jenner uses, too.
To give her that bombshell appearance, makeup artist Angela Levin used three coats of the Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara on her top lashes, plus Chanel Inimitable Mascara on her bottom lashes, the former of which was also used on Brie Larson and Naomi Watts for the award show, per the brand. The reason for two separate products? “This allowed for the light to show the sparkle of her eye,” Levin said in a press release.
Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara
As its name suggests, the Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara is all about pumping up the volume. It’s formulated with natural waxes to amplify lashes and quick-drying acacia gum to hold the curl, according to the brand. Its brush has short and long bristles that “ makes application so even and easy to build,” according to a shopper. Another reviewer said the mascara is “unbelievable,” giving their lashes the appearance of “[growing] by almost inches.”
Pro tip: Warm up your fingers and give your lashes a delicate press upwards. Why? This is what Levin did, and as a result, “the mascara warmed and melted just a bit, allowing for the curl to really be locked in,” she said.
The volumizing mascara comes in three colors, though one is currently sold out. Levin used the Noir, or black, shade on Aniston, which is still available. There’s also a pretty blue color, which would look nice with brown eyes.
The $40 price tag is more than we’d typically want to pay for mascara, but it’s definitely cheaper than getting lash extensions and less annoying than gluing on store-bought falsies.
Chanel Inimitable Mascara
We don’t know the order in which Levin applied the products, but we do know the other mascara used was the Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir Brun, a dark brown shade. Not only does this mascara add thickness, but it also helps keep each lash separate from one another, so there’s no clumps or sticking together. Contact wearers will be happy to know this mascara is ophthalmologist-tested, so it’s safe to use in your routine.
