Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, and Tim Burton have unintentionally formed a creative universe centered around offbeat supernatural characters and their intertwining stories. Ryder’s iconic roles in Burton’s movies, Ortega’s rising stardom and her role as Wednesday Addams inthe Netflix The Addams Family spin-off Wednesday, and Burton’s unique directorial style have resulted in a cohesive thread that links them all together. Which is why the opportunity for Ryder to make an appearance in Wednesday Season 2 seems very open and plausible.
Turns out, the cast of the upcoming Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has already discussed this idea. When GamesRadar+ asked Jenna Ortega about it, she expressed her enthusiasm but noted Ryder’s busy schedule.
“Man, that would be cool, but that girl is so busy. She really has no time, even trying to get to get together to do this, you know, it was [tricky]… So I don’t know about that but obviously, I would love to work with Winona again, and if it’s not on Wednesday, then it’s going to be on something else, I hope. We talk about it all the time, and that would be really sweet for me.”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is set to hit theaters on September 6, follows the Deetz family returning to Winter River, Connecticut, after a family tragedy. Ryder reprises her role as Lydia Deetz, while Ortega plays Lydia’s teen daughter, Astrid. The sequel is directed by Tim Burton, and it takes place 36 years after the events of the original film.
Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega Are Currently Filming Wednesday Season 2
Production of the highly-anticipated second installment of the hit Netflix series is currently underway. Ortega has shared little updates here and there about the new season, revealing that it draws inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, The Masque of the Red Death. Considering the Gothic source material, Season 2 of Wednesday will be just as dark and mysterious as Season 1.
Fans are also eagerly looking forward to new arcs in the upcoming season. One of the most discussed topics is the development of Wednesday’s relationships with her friends and family at Nevermore Academy. They are also curious about how the series will explore her psychic abilities, flesh out supporting characters, and navigate intricate plotlines.
As for Winona Ryder, she is now filming the final season of Stranger Things, where she plays Joyce Byers. Stranger Things Season 5 is another installment fans are patiently waiting for. It is expected to bring closure to all the storylines that have captivated audiences for several years.
