After the backlash he received over his performance at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Jelly Roll has broken his silence about the matter on social media.
“This is for sure the most toxic negative app to exist ever — PERIOD. lol,” the rapper wrote about the negative comments. “This place is different man, I always heard it was the Wild West on here but man it’s insane. It’s a safe place for everyone to say mean sh*t to each other with no consequences. I’m out lol.”
Jelly Roll faced criticism after his performance of Ozzy Osbourne’s song ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ at the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. The Rock Hall shared a video of the performance on Instagram but didn’t receive positive feedback from fans of Ozzy.
“That was absolutely hideous. I’ll never understand the appeal of Jelly Roll,” a user wrote in the comments section.
Another one added, “Should have had James Hetfield or Corey Taylor, you know, people who were both influenced by Ozzy but also are close to him.” Another user agreed with the rest of the comments: “Oh Jesus that was bad. Stop getting current trendy people to sings these legends songs and get the best suited voice possible. F*cking Ozzy deserves better.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony featured tributes to artists like Cher, Mary J. Blige, and Foreigner, but the highlight was when Ozzy Osbourne took the stage. He was already in the Hall for his work with Black Sabbath and was now being inducted for his solo career.
Jelly Roll performed the song with stars like Billy Idol and Chad Smith on stage, while Ozzy watched from the side.
