Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, The Expendables has been chock-full of beloved action superstars since it first began back in 2010. But there is one glaring omission. And Statham would love to see them join the ranks. That name is, of course, Jackie Chan, and, according to The Stath himself, the Rush Hour and Rumble in the Bronx star could one day join the party.
“[Sylvester Stallone] hasn’t said anything but I hear rumors. I should never go with rumors because they’re often not correct, but I hear Jackie Chan might be coming to the party and that would make me very happy because I do like Jackie Chan.
I like Jackie because I’ve been a fan of Jackie’s forever. He’s broken every bone in his body for his commitment and dedication to doing his own stunts. So he’s the real deal. He *is* the real deal. He’s my fave. I like Clint Eastwood as well.”
Much like many an action movie fan, Statham has been a fan of Chan “forever.” The Beekeeper star revealed his choice of who should join The Expendables back in 2013 while speaking with Collider, but while Chan has yet to stand alongside Statham as part of the titular team, it’s not too late. Chan, now 70-years-old, continues to ply his trade as an action star, with a new Karate Kid movie on the horizon, and could always add his name to The Expendables list in a sequel…
Expend4bles Director Says Jackie Chan Could Join the Action Franchise
Speaking of a sequel, Expend4bles director Scott Waugh recently addressed the idea of Jackie Chan starring in Expendables 5 while appearing on JoBlo Celebrity Interviews. While he couldn’t confirm anything, Waugh teased the idea, saying, “anything’s possible.”
“Look I think anything’s possible, and I know Jackie’s a huge Sly fan, Sly has such reverence for Jackie as well. I think if the stars align in their schedules, which is always so freaking complicated, I would really hope that we could make that happen, that’d be fantastic.”

Despite the savage critical response and poor box office garnered by last year’s Expend4bles, a further sequel in the action franchise recently got a promising update from the expendable Randy Couture, who revealed that discussions are happening.
“I think there’s some talk now. You know, Statham has stepped up in four pretty significantly. I heard and read an article where he was talking about approaching Guy Ritchie, who gave him his start in the industry, about being a director for an Expendables, which would be a huge thing, and Guy is amazing.
At the end of the day, there’s numbers involved there, and if four did well enough on the financial side of things then I’d say the property is certainly still alive. There’s scuttlebutt about a fifth movie in the works, but we’ll see.”
The cast of The Expendables re-unites again as Sylvestor Stallone, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren fight side-by-side in another all-out action film.
