James Hetfield’s son Castor named a band other than Metallica as his role model.
“I don’t remember what year it was, but quite a few years ago my dad turned me onto a band called the Mars Volta,” the drummer recalled when asked who inspires their energy on stage during a recent appearance on Loudwire Nights.
Castor continued, “I mean, I love their music and I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos of them playing their shows. There’s no point in the show that someone’s just standing there. Everyone’s moving, everyone’s putting 100-percent in that. I think that’s really cool. I don’t want to go to a show and watch someone stand still for an hour.”
Castor’s band Bastardane’s new album, ‘Catatonic Symphony’ arrived on May 31. The record has 16 tracks and lasts 77 minutes. “The new songs we’ve got on ‘Catatonic Symphony’ kick butt,” Castor previously shared. “We put a lot of heart into the album and cannot wait to hit the road and play it live.”
“All of us are our father’s sons, mine just happens to be very successful in the industry that we’re in,” the drummer previously said about being compared to his father. “It’s not bothersome, but it is a little annoying when people try to compare us because obviously we’re our own people and he’s his own person.”
He added, “We’re making our own kind of music. Online, when you search our band, my dad’s face is all over the Internet and it’s a little strange for me. We are our own people and want to cut our own path. We’re not trying to ride off of anybody else’s success here.”
Bastardane is currently on tour with OTTTO. The tour started on August 2 in New York and will end on September 6 in Los Angeles.
