Jack Russell sat down with Artists on Record for a new interview and discussed his relationship with Don Dokken.
Russell said Dokken was either a friend or a foe depending on the day. He explained:
“He’s a friend or a foe depending on what day of the week it is. Well, he’s turned me into John Kalodner for being all screwed up on drugs and then John puts me in rehab for 90 days. I’m thinking, ‘Don, you great guy,’ but it was good though it was good.”
He then mentioned his sobriety and recalled ending it once again:
“I got out and I was in my house. I was walking around barefoot and I stepped on a rock and I went, ‘Oh no,’ and I sat there on my dresser for like two weeks until I finally said ah f*ck it smoke that baby. My 90 days of sobriety was a torture house.”
Don Dokken’s Comments About Russell’s Sobriety
In another interview, Dokken stated that Russell has started drinking and taking pills again since the documentary ‘The Guest List’ aired.
The rocker talked about Russell’s battles with alcohol, drugs, and health. He shared details about Russell’s recent health challenges and related issues:
“There’s something going on with Jack and I don’t know what it is. That documentary came out, I think he kinda got screwed on that, The Guest List. They told him they wanted to do a documentary about his life, and they they spun it into the fire.”
The singer also hoped that his bandmate was watching the interview and sent him a message:
“I saw he booked some shows, and I was saying to my old lady going, he ain’t gonna do those shows, he’s not healthy enough. I hate to say it Jack, if you listen to this interview, but you’re just not healthy enough.”
