The Snuts lead vocalist Jack Cochrane recently criticized those who dismiss Coldplay’s music. “I think people who don’t like Coldplay are uncool,” the Scottish indie rocker told The Times.
He then fondly remembered attending a Coldplay concert at ‘T in the Park’ during his teenage years, describing it as his most memorable Scottish gig.
“They’re one of those bands that everybody pretends they’re too cool to properly love,” the singer noted. “But the performance, the production, and atmosphere, with everybody blasting their songs, was unforgettable.”
The debate around Coldplay’s style remained hot through decades. While fans and some musicians expressed hate or dislike for their music, U2’s Bono praised their work on the docuseries ‘Music Uncovered: The Genius of Coldplay.’
“I should mention Coldplay are not a rock band. I hope that’s obvious. There is something much more interesting going on there like the Isley Brothers or something,” the singer said. “They should not be judged by rock rules… Rage is the river running under most rock formations. Coldplay’s music has a different source and I think it’s best revealed in this song ‘Clocks.’”
The song came out in 2002 as part of Coldplay’s ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head,’ which won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album the next year.
Recently, Coldplay released their tenth studio album, ‘Moon Music,’ under Atlantic Records. Shortly before it came out, Chris Martin announced that the band’s twelfth record would be their last.
