Kyle Gass from Tenacious D got into trouble for making a controversial comment about the recent attempt on Donald Trump’s life.
On July 14, the day after Trump was shot at a rally in Pennsylvania, Tenacious D performed in ICC Sydney Theatre for Gass’ 64th birthday.
During the show, Black brought out a birthday cake for Gass onstage and asked him to make a wish. Gass jokingly said:
“Don’t miss Trump next time.”
The audience was seen laughing and some saying ‘woah.’ The moment was caught on video by fans.
However, things took a turn for the worse. The video went viral online, and many people are slamming Gass and the band. Soon after Kyle’s comment started circulating online, another group of people made it clear they didn’t agree with him at all.
The Comments Caused A Show To Get Postponed
An Australian politician wants Tenacious D to be sent out of the country because of the joke made during the live show.
Senator Ralph Babet, who leads the United Australia Party, took to social media on Monday night to demand that Tenacious D be deported over their joke. Babet said Kyle Gass’ comments weren’t funny and called on Australia’s immigration minister Andrew Giles to ‘cancel their visas.’
Babet also stated:
“Anything less than a deportation is an endorsement of the shooting and the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump.”
The band’s latest show was later postponed after the politician’s words. Concert promoter Frontier Touring has announced on social media that the Newcastle Entertainment Centre show has been moved to a different date.
