After the Tenacious D drama, Jack Black decided to focus on other projects. However, it cost him.
The movie adaptation for the video game ‘Borderlands’ is now out, and a video of Black was recently posted on the original account for the movie. The rocker was seen standing next to ‘Claptrap,’ the character he voiced. The post received numerous hate comments because of Black’s Tenacious D drama.
“You killed your entire reputation over nothing,” one user wrote. “Can’t look at him the same anymore,” another wrote while referring to the Kyle Gass incident. “Was it worth sacrificing tenacious D?” another user said.
It doesn’t end there. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie flopped since it got a critic score of only 10% and an audience score of 53%. The movie is out in theaters, and it’s also getting a digital release soon.
The announcement for the movie came right after Tenacious D’s temporary breakup. The band had to end things after Kyle Gass’ comment about an attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
After Gass’ comments, Black announced that he was canceling Tenacious D’s tour because of backlash against his bandmate. However, Black recently said they would be back on stage when the time feels right and added that he and Gass were still friends.
