During a Five Finger Death Punch performance at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, Ivan Moody fractured his rib. The incident took place while performing ‘IOU’ on the Highland Festival Grounds stage at the Kentucky Expo Center on the event’s first day (September 26).
The rainy evening caused Moody to slip and fall while making his way across the stage. Though he managed to get up and finish the set, the frontman later wrote on his Instagram Stories that he had a “bruise that’s running from the inside of my armpit down to the side of my knee.” He added that his hand felt “like it’s shattered.”
A trip to the hospital confirmed that Moody had a fractured rib. “You’ve gotta be f*cking kidding me,” he reacted to the injury. “It’s always something, man. Well, I will say this much: it was worth it. Louder Than Life. For real real.”
The following day, festival conditions worsened due to ongoing heavy rain from Hurricane Helene, leading to the cancellation of that day’s shows.
Prior to the incident, Five Finger Death Punch wrapped up their U.S. tour in Houston, Texas. Marilyn Manson and Slaughter To Prevail supported the performances that kicked off on August 2.
The band is still on the road to promote their ninth album, ‘AfterLife.’ They will perform next at Foro Sol in Mexico on September 29 and at Aftershock 2024 in Sacramento, California, on October 11.
