Rod Stewart could face backlash over his recent words on Donald Trump.
At a recent concert in Las Vegas, the singer mocked Trump using a meme. The meme showed four pictures of Trump, with his skin color going from white to orange. The caption also made fun of what Trump said about Vice President Kamala Harris. The caption of the meme read:
“I didn’t know he was orange until a number of years ago when he happened to turn orange. I respect either one, but he obviously doesn’t and now he wants to be known as Orange. All of a sudden he made a turn and became an Orange person. I think someone should look into that.”
Comments About Rod’s Statements
Some praised Stewart on social media for standing up to Trump for Harris. One commenter said:
“This is savage and I’m so proud of you.”
Another one added:
“Now I love you more, Rod Stewart.”
Others felt he should have kept his opinion to himself. A user wrote:
“People in the entertainment industry should keep their opinions to themselves!! They have no idea about the real world.”
One other person noted:
“I’m really trying to figure out your reasoning for this post other than to alienate some of your fans! Probably should stick to music!”
Rod’s meme made fun of Trump’s comments about Harris’ ethnic background. Trump said he was confused about Harris being half-Indian and half-Black. He claimed he didn’t know she was Black until recently and questioned whether she identifies as Indian or Black.
Can Stewart Get Cancelled After Tenacious D?
Stewart’s comments might be risky due to what Tenacious D experienced not long ago. During their show in Sydney, Kyle Gass got backlash for his comments about the assassination attempt on Trump. He said on stage:
“Don’t miss Trump next time.”
The video went viral, and many people criticized Gass and the band. Two days later, Jack Black said he was shocked by Gass’ comment and didn’t support hate speech or violence. Tenacious D canceled their tour and put their plans on hold. Gass apologized by calling his comment a mistake.
Before Stewart, Green Day also put themselves at risk. In their Washington show, Billie Joe Armstrong held up a Trump mask with ‘IDIOT’ written on it. This angered MAGA supporters, who have been calling for a boycott of the band.
