In a recent Instagram post, Brandon Boyd hinted at new Incubus music.
“Our band Incubus as seen through the lens of Jake Chamseddine. We are rounding the corner on finishing this newest studio album and what a time it has been,” the frontman revealed. “We’re thrilled to share this piece of work with you.”
In May, Incubus released ‘Morning View XXIII,’ a re-recording of their 2001 album. They’re also working on their upcoming ninth album. “This new version [of ‘Morning View’] has been a jumping-off point, too, because we’ve been working on new music steadily over the last several months,” Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger told Billboard.
The band’s recent tour in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia “took us away from that process for a little bit,” Einziger added. “But we’re jumping right back into it. All of it has reinvigorated us in ways that are new, that are going to result in new music from us that’s different than music we made before.”
In 2021, Boyd talked to NME about the 20th anniversary of their famous album, which had hit singles like ‘Nice To Know You,’ ‘Are You In?’ and ‘Wish You Were Here.’ He mentioned there could be more unreleased material from that time.
“There’s a lot of material and we might dust some of it off at some point,” he shared. “Sometimes old ideas or demos find their way into back into our sort of collective band consciousness and we’ll dust them off and rearrange them and they become new songs.”
The singer added, “We made the decision to not make our next album in a traditional setting so we rented this big, empty house up in Malibu kind of away from everything.”
“We were interested in seeing what would happen if we changed our environment dramatically and set up in a living room together and brought out all of our gear into this house, where it was as distraction free as you could possibly be in that moment,” he also noted.
After their successful sold-out 2024 US Arena tour, Incubus recently announced they will perform their ‘Morning View’ album in full, along with their hits, at London’s The O2 on Saturday, April 26, 2025. This will be their only show in the UK and Ireland.
