Imagine Dragons drummer Daniel Platzman is leaving the band after over 10 years.
On Wednesday, Platzman shared the news on Instagram. He thanked his fans for their support throughout his time with the band.
“After an incredible journey of over a decade, I will be departing the amazing band that is Imagine Dragons,” he explained. “I wanted to share my deepest gratitude to you, the fans, for your unwavering support and sharing in the joy of music with me.”
He explained the reason for his departure: “Connecting with you all has truly been the highlight of this chapter. I’m excited to be able to share more soon about the projects I’ve been hard at work on over the past few months centered on my biggest passion: film scoring and composing. I promise you’ll be the first to know. Stay tuned.”
The band hasn’t stated the drummer’s replacement or his departure yet. However, they shared a series of pictures from their latest show with the frontman Dan Reynolds on drums.
“We don’t know what happened between Platz and you guys but not making any official announcement and posting a picture of Dan on drums doesn’t seem right,” a user wrote in response to the picture.
“In my opinion, you should talk about the fact that Platz will no longer be in the band. Please explain,” another wrote. “Posting Dan on drums after Platz leaving is crazy,” another added.
Platzman joined the band back in 2011. He took a break in 2023, but eventually rejoined the band. The drummer has played on five of the band’s six albums. Their most recent release, ‘LOOM,’ came out in late June, but Platzman is not credited on the album.
