Fall is layers season, and a jacket that’s warm, cozy, and looks great is the best piece to add to your closet. As someone who shops for a living, I was wildly impressed by Walmart’s fall jacket collection. Best-selling brands like No Boundaries, Time and Tru, and Scoop dropped over 1,000 new styles, and they look good enough to rival high-end stores.
Since shopping at Walmart is my 9-to-5, I scoured all the new pieces to find the best 14 under $40. Whether you’re looking for a casual jean jacket, a sleek moto style, or a classic trench, you can find it at Walmart without putting a hole in your wallet.

Time and Tru Trench Coat
I’m adding this classic trench coat to my cart after finding it at Walmart. The lightweight jacket has all the best hallmarks of a trench like a tie-waist, tortoiseshell buttons, and prominent lapels. It’s also fully lined, wind-resistant, and has four-way stretch for added comfort. It looks more expensive than it is, according to shoppers, and has become a staple in their wardrobes.
Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara Faux Leather Stitch Moto Jacket
I love a jacket that can do it all, like this moto style that’s incredibly versatile. You can wear it with a midi dress and heels for an edgy but dressed up look or with jeans and a T-shirt at a casual brunch. The open front design makes layering easy, but it’s still got fun hardware on the pockets and oversized lapels with visible vertical seams for added detail.
Free Assembly Belted Cotton Utility Jacket
One of my favorite things about utility jackets is how they blend functional design with relaxed details, and that’s exactly what Free Assembly’s style does. The jacket has a lot of structure thanks to cut and cotton fabric, and the metallic buttons remind me of a work coat. But the tie-waist and pop of corduroy at the collar soften the feel. It’s a quality piece that’s comparable to high-end at a much lower price, per several shoppers.
Riders by Lee Indigo Stretch Denim Jacket
Getting through fall without a jean jacket is impossible — at least in my opinion. This classic style from Lee comes in a traditional blue denim wash with visible stitched seams, chest pockets, and metallic buttons. The denim has shape but is also made with stretch for extra comfort.
