I Prevail is getting ready to go back on stage, but there’s a twist – one of their singers won’t be there. The band just stated that co-singer Brian Burkheiser won’t make it to their upcoming gigs. However, they are still planning to play with two other band members taking over the singing.
In their recent statement, the band explained that Burkheiser had surgery in February and he’s taking a bit longer to recover than they thought:
“Brian recently underwent surgery for a longstanding medical issue in February. The doctors involved were confident this timeframe would allow Brian to recover and perform the upcoming radio shows (Milwaukee/Minneapolis) and European/U.K. tour, but unfortunately the recovery process has taken longer than initially expected. Brian’s recovery is going well, but he’s not ready to take the stage quite yet. Have no fear however, we are still playing ALL upcoming shows with Eric and Dylan doing double duty on vocals. We poured our heart into this show and promise we will deliver you all a special experience. Brian will be home working hard on his recovery and he looks forward to seeing you all this summer.”
Fans Don’t Want I Prevail To Tour
Though the band seemingly thought the comment section would be flooded with get well soon messages, fans shared their disappointment instead. Fans did wish Burkheiser to get well soon, but most said that a band wasn’t a band without their singer and that they should have postponed instead of trying to make it work. One wrote:
“Please postpone. I‘ve had two Dates canceled due to COVID already. Now I don’t wanna have waited 4 years(!) just to get half the juice. Pretty sure the rest of the band would give it their all but I’d still prefer the whole experience after all that wait. All things aside, get well soon Brian.”
Another user commented:
“…I get the recovery but a concert without the lead vocalist is NOT what most of us want. After 4 years of waiting, I’d finally get to see you all next week and now this. I wish you’d reschedule. This is majorly upsetting.”
I Prevail’s last show was on February 7 during the ShipRocked cruise. The next gigs, on May 3 at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum and May 4 at St. Paul’s 93X Twin City Takeover are the band’s warm-up shows before they head to Europe and the UK for concerts.
