The second part of the 2024 spring Classics season continues on Wednesday, April 19 with the challenge of the Mur de Huy at La Flèche Wallonne and La Flèche Wallonne Femmes.
The brutal climb, located in the town of Huy in Wallonia, hosts the finale of the second of the Ardennes Classics where riders winch themselves up the double-digit gradients to the finish line.
Last year, Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) won the women’s race and will be back to defend her title, while in the men’s race, Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) will be hoping to add to his Ardennes haul after winning Amstel Gold Race.
Among the women looking to snatch the crown from Vollering’s head is another former winner, Marta Cavalli (FDJ-Suez). Other big names on the start line include Gaia Realini and Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek), Sarah Gigante and Ashleigh Moolman (AG Insurance-Soudal), and Kasia Niewiadomav (Canyon-Sram).
Over in the men’s race watch out for former winner Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates), Benoît Cosnefroy (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale), Aleksandr Vlasov (Bora-Hansgrohe), David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ), and Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek), among others.
