In a recent Instagram story, Hayley Williams reflected on whether Paramore is in the rock category.
The frontwoman reposted State of the Scene’s news with the headline ‘Paramore has entered the Top 20 Most Streamed Rock Acts of All Time on Spotify’ and wrote:
“We are 1 of only 2 bands that include women in the top 20 of all time. Of course, I’m beyond honored but in my lifetime, I hope to see more women, more LGBTQ+, and black /brown talent on this list. Also ‘rock’ is funny… Are Paramore a rock band or just not quite 100% pop? What tf are we?”
Hayley Thinks Paramore Isn’t In The Pop World
Last month, Williams said she was tired of stan wars and glad she wasn’t involved anymore. On July 23, she posted on Instagram, and called stan wars ‘annoying.’ She also expressed happiness that her band isn’t in the pop world anymore. She wrote:
“Witnessing stan wars makes me so happy Paramore is not really in the pop world. I just get to enjoy the good sh*t that’s come out this year and I’m sorry some of y’all can’t, that’s gotta be damn tough.”
Williams’ Thoughts On Pop Singers
Paramore’s style has elements of both rock and pop. Hayley previously stood behind famous pop stars like Miley Cyrus. In a November 2023 interview, Williams talked with Dolly Parton about Parton’s rock album. They discussed the album’s collaborations, including Cyrus. Hayley shared her views on Cyrus and explained why she shouldn’t be underestimated:
“I mean, yours and Miley’s voices are perfect together. You on this song, [‘Wrecking Ball’], it feels like a song that you could have written.”
Parton added after her:
“Well, I wish I had written that song. Miley, I’m crazy about. I don’t think people even know how talented she is.”
Williams talked about people underestimating Cyrus and shared her own thoughts about her:
“Yes. I think what, unfortunately, people do is really underestimate based on presentation or based on the fact that she came from Disney. And she’s already proven that she’s got the chops: She’s a great singer, a writer.”
Hayley also likes rap music. In 2010, she worked with rapper B.o.B on the song ‘Airplanes.’ Last year in September, the singer revealed that her dream collaboration was working with Eminem on a project.
