Gwen Stefani recently sat down with Nylon for an interview and said she thinks being a rock star was her destiny.
The singer talked about the importance of music in her life, saying:
“I just know that I was chosen. And it took me a long time to say that, and it still makes me cringe a little bit, because it sounds conceited. I really struggled hard at certain things. But I can do this one thing.”
No Doubt Has No Future Plans After Coachella
Besides her career with No Doubt, Stefani also has a successful solo career and collaborates with her husband, Blake Shelton. Although she’s willing to consider anything, there won’t be any new music from No Doubt after their reunion at the 2024 Coachella festival, and they won’t be going on tour either. Stefani explained:
“[Coachella is] going to be a really nice bow to tie on the relationship because we were kids [when we met]. I already know what it’s going to feel like because we’re just so in sync when we’re onstage. It’s going to feel like riding a bike again. We’re going to be laughing, and we’re going to look at each other and go, ‘Oh my gosh — there you are.’”
Gwen mentioned they’ve been waiting for the Coachella reunion for a while. However, she admitted they hadn’t really hung out or stayed in touch much to prepare for the show.
Stefani’s Thoughts On Getting Together With No Doubt
During a February appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Stefani again spoke about how it feels to reunite for a show with No Doubt:
“It’s going to be amazing. I’m so excited and I think what is going to be hilarious is I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to get on stage and look around and just start cracking up. It’s just going to be like riding a bike. We’re going to be like, ‘What are we doing? We’re in the future right now.’ I don’t remember them [No Doubt lyrics], no. Not at all. I think I’m going to have to learn like eight or nine.”
In January, No Doubt decided to reunite for a show and shared the news on social media. They were later announced as part of the Coachella 2024 lineup, joining headliners Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator, and Doja Cat. No Doubt will perform at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California, and it will be their first show there in nine years. Coachella takes place on April 12-14 and April 19-21.
