Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s love story played out in the public eye, with audiences getting to see them go from friends to life partners while working as judges on The Voice.
But now the No Doubt frontwoman has a major confession about her husband that may surprise their fans.
In a conversation with published on Nov. 14, Stefani revealed that despite Shelton’s massive success as a country star, because she didn’t listen to the genre, “I never even knew he existed before I met him.”
The singer, who released her latest album Bouquet on Nov. 15, opened up more about her relationship with the outlet, stating that Shelton is “very humble and doesn’t realize how good he is. There’s something so attractive about that.”
Shelton appears on one of the tracks on the album, “Purple Irises,” which was inspired by the flowers that grow on their Oklahoma property. “During the pandemic we came across this very old building on the land and there were some purple irises, which someone must have planted centuries ago, but they’ve survived. I wrote the song ‘Purple Irises’ about that and how it feels to find true love and the insecurities of not wanting to lose it,” she said.
also spoke about how her relationship with Shelton helped her heal from her previous marriage to Bush singer Gavin Rossdale, revealing that “meeting my husband felt like a second chance at life, because when my family fell apart it was a catastrophe.”
