Bat attack hit Goose show after Taylor Momsen’s bat incident goes viral.
Goose fans who went to a show at Chicago’s The Salt Shed last month have been warned about possible exposure to rabid bats. On October 4, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued a warning that there might have been a ‘possible exposure’ during Goose’s outdoor concert on September 12.
Some fans reported seeing a bat flying near the lights. “If you attended the concert and were bitten or scratched by a bat, or if you had direct contact with a bat, contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible to discuss rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP),” the CDPH’s statement read.
The statement continued, “Rabies post-exposure prophylaxis consists of a dose of human rabies immune globulin and four doses of vaccine, which is highly effective in preventing rabies.”
In a statement to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Salt Shed said there have been no reports of attendees infected with rabies. “The Salt Shed is monitoring the situation closely,” a spokesperson explained. “The health and safety of our guests is, as ever, our top priority. We have medical personnel on site for every event, and to date have received no reports from attendees of any bat sightings or infections.”
Earlier this year, Momsen was bitten by a bat while performing onstage in Seville, Spain. She had to get several rabies shots afterward. During their song ‘Witches Burn,’ a bat landed on her leg and stayed there until the end of the performance.
The rocker posted the fan-recorded moment on Instagram and wrote, “So… ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT… in Sevilla Wednesday during ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a bat flew onto me and clung to my leg… In the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing…”
She added, “He was cute, but yes he bit me… So rabies shots for the next two weeks. Thanks to all the staff at the hospital who dubbed me batgirl after seeing it on the local news that morning… More footage to come… That’s one for the books!”
Goose’s 2024 tour continues later this month. The tour goes until New Year’s Eve and includes two benefit shows for Hurricane Helene.
