Pierre in Putnam, a long-time Knicks hater, called Gio and Jerry to regretfully admit that he loves the way these Knicks play, and how likable they’ve become.
Jerry, despite his Nets fandom, had to agree.
“I’m with you,” Jerry said. “I don’t like the Knicks either, and yet I like watching them.”
Gio and Jerry agree that the Knicks’ style of play is easy to respect and be enamored with, and the faces of that gritty brand of basketball have become legendary faces in New York already.
“Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson especially, but Josh Hart in a different way, the fact that he’s playing every minute, flying in for rebounds and going to the basket,” Gio said. “Those two guys really have the potential of being all-time New York sports, just beloved athletes. Like the Yankees that don’t leave here. Mariano Rivera was there last night, Bernie Williams. Those guys have the potential to be that level if they get there.
“The 90s Knicks didn’t win a championship and they’re still revered that way.”
