    Gene Simmons faced backlash for his comments as a guest judge on ‘Hair Metal Night’ on Dancing With the Stars.

    The judges scored the routine from 1 to 10, and Simmons was booed for giving odd scores. He focused more on looks than the dancing itself and gave little feedback. He gave a lower score to Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy but later awarded a perfect score to Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko.

    “Hey Reggie, you’ve got a beautiful woman right beside you who can twist it and turn it and knows how to move it and all that,” the bassist told the 72-year-old actor Reginald VelJohnson. “But I want to tell you, as a guy that’s been on the stage for half a century around the world, I’m kind of a big deal, Reggie. It’s all in the attitude. And you’ve got something in that beautiful face. They love you.”

    This week’s episode had contestants dancing to famous hair metal hits. Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra appeared, playing a guitar solo to a cover of KISS’ ‘Rock and Roll All Nite.’ Songs by Poison, Warrant, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, and others were included.

    Though Simmons wasn’t part of the hair metal era, his celebrity status and rocker image made him a choice for a guest appearance. Still, his words have been under attack on social media.

    “Not sure why Gene Simmons is a guest judge on #DWTS but it takes him about 0.021 seconds to be creepy to any female contestant,” one person wrote on X. “The other judges watching Gene hit on every woman and give out the worst scores,” another one said.

    One other user also commented, “Gene is very weird and creepy.” Another individual added, “Get this horny old dog out of my show.”

    The dancers also performed to other classic songs like Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ and ‘You Give Love A Bad Name,’ Aerosmith’s ‘Walk This Way,’ Warrant’s “Cherry Pie,” Europe’s “The Final Countdown,” Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” Quiet Riot’s “Cum On Feel The Noize,” Poison’s “Nothin’ But A Good Time,” Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again,” and Scorpions’ “Rock You Like A Hurricane.”
