Geezer Butler joined Foo Fighters on stage during their Birmingham show on Thursday (June 27). The bassist later shared a photo collage of the event on Instagram and captioned it with a message for the band:
“When I was invited to see Foo Fighters at Villa Park, I couldn’t resist. It was so great to play in that venue… my life-long football team’s stadium. Cheers to the entire Foo Fighters camp. The best. Extra shout out to Nate Mendel for lending his bass. Thanks for the collage, Biff Butler.”
They Collaborated For A Black Sabbath Track
The show for Foo Fighters’ UK tour took place at Villa Park Stadium in Geezer Butler’s hometown. Butler played Black Sabbath’s 1970 song ‘Paranoid’ with the band. Dave Grohl introduced him to the audience as follows:
“He’s never seen a concert here. He’s never played a concert here. So, we thought, something special for us and hopefully it’s special for him, too, we’d invite him out to come play a song with us. Ladies and gentlemen, Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath!”
Foo Fighters Played Various Covers
Butler and Foo Fighters performed ‘Paranoid’ together before at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show in 2022. Metallica’s Lars Ulrich and Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach joined them onstage.
The band also covered Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and songs by Van Halen, Ramones, Nine Inch Nails, Devo, and Beastie Boys during last night’s show. They’re now heading to Poland for a festival date on July 3.
