In a recent chat with the On the Road to Rock podcast with Clint Switzer, Fozzy’s Rich Ward talked about why Chris Jericho is one of rock’s greatest frontmen.
The guitarist reflected on the band’s success, which he began 25 years ago with Jericho:
“We’re really blessed. The Fozzy band started as a side thing for myself and Chris, and it just kind of evolved into this passion project, which then we take as seriously as you would anything else you do in your life. I mean, Chris is not going to do anything unless he feels like it’s gonna be successful, because he’s an apex predator, he’s a great white shark.”
Ward went on to praise the singer:
“Everything he does is incredible. The fact that he’s at his age and is still at the top in his industry, and he’s got four New York Times bestsellers and one of the most popular podcasts in the world and he’s one of the greatest frontmen that’s ever lived in rock and roll, and I’ll stand by that.”
Ward’s Earlier Words On Jericho
This isn’t the first time the rocker spoke highly of his bandmate. In a 2022 conversation with SW Wall Interviews, Rich stated:
“Our strength really still lies in being a tremendously entertaining band. And anyone who knows anything about [Fozzy singer] Chris Jericho knows just his natural ability to be the premier showman in any business that he’s in. Chris is, I would say, in the top five of all frontmen in the business today. And then the band that Chris has is a bunch of killers. All of us have been in bands our entire life, and we’ve built this incredible team of friends and family around him, and it’s exciting, man.”
Fozzy released their single ‘Spotlight’ last October. It was produced by Johnny Andrews and mixed by Jacob Hanson. Their latest album, ‘Boombox,’ came out in May 2022 and includes ‘I Still Burn’ with over three million YouTube views.
