A new look at Captain America: Brave New World has been unveiled, and it includes the first official look at Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon in the MCU. Ramirez first appeared as Joaquin Torres in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where the series established him as a close friend of Sam Wilson, who survived the Blip and worked with him on missions. The series featured Wilson giving Torres his original Falcon suit, laying the groundwork for him to suit up in Captain America: Brave New World.
Empire revealed the first official photo of Joaquin Torres in Captain America: Brave New World (see below). The image shows Torres running alongside Sam Wilson/Captain America on a ship that supposedly is part of a scene teased through the trailers of a battle near the remains of the Celestial Tiamut. Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah revealed the dynamic between Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Joaquin Torres’ Falcon, saying, “There’s this incredible big brother/little brother dynamic between them. It’s going to be one of the key emotional centers of the film.”
While this is the first official look at Danny Ramirez suited up as Joaquin Torres/The Falcon in the MCU, it is not the first time fans have glimpsed him. Torres is shown in both trailers released for Captain America: Brave New World. Fans actually got their first full look at the new Falcon suited up earlier this year due to a McDonald’s tie-in for the movie. That got leaked nearly a full year before Brave New World came out due to the film being pushed back from its original release date.
New Hero for a New MCU Post-‘Endgame’
Joaquin Torres was introduced in the pages of Marvel Comics in 2015 in Captain America: Sam Wilson #1. The character’s MCU debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came only six years after he was created, and now arrives in a big-budget MCU film ten years after he first appeared in the pages of Marvel Comics. Torres is the latest in a long line of characters like Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Riri Williams/Ironheart, and America Chavez were created after the MCU began and are now parts of the franchise.

Kevin Feige Says Not to Expect All Phase 4 MCU Heroes to Appear in Avengers 5
While Avengers 5 will be a massive MCU spectacle, Kevin Feige is telling fans that not every hero will appear in the upcoming film.
Marvel Studios certainly lucked out with the cast of Danny Ramirez as the Falcon. The actor certainly is no stranger to high octane aerial combat, as he starred in Top Gun: Maverick, which was filmed before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, due to delays from the COVID-19 pandemic, it was released after. Since then, Ramirez has become an in-demand actor, and next year will be seen in both Captain America: Brave New World and The Last of Us Season 2. Ramirez was supposed to co-star with Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Haynes’ gay romance project, but the film has since been scrapped after Phoenix dropped out of the project just days before filming began. Marvel Studios would be smart to start planning for Ramirez to reprise his role as the Falcon in more MCU projects.
