Fans finally have their first official look at Jeremy Allen White in the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. When The Bear and Shameless star was cast in the role this April, there was a little backlash, with some believing that White looked nothing like a young Bruce Springsteen. But the first official photo of Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen has been released, and it should quiet a lot of the naysayers.
Shared by 20th Century Studios on X, the image shows Jeremy Allen White embodying the music legend with a classic pose. Wearing a signature red and white flannel shirt with a leather jacket and shaggy hair, White looks incredibly like a younger Bruce Springsteen, hyping up fans for the upcoming biopic.

Deliver Me From Nowhere is an adaptation of the book of the same name about the creation of Bruce Springsteen’s beloved 1982 album Nebraska. Writer and director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) said in a statement (via The Guardian) “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision.” While Nebraska isn’t one of Springsteen’s most popular albums, it does feature hits like “Atlantic City” and the titular “Nebraska,” which are loved by the Boss’s fan base. Cooper continued:
“The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.”
Fans react to Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen
Deliver Me From Nowhere is the first biopic authorized by Bruce Springsteen, who personally gave Jeremy Allen White his seal of approval. However, not everyone is convinced by the actor’s “transformation.” Social media is divided by the first official image of Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen. Some believe he was already perfectly cast, and the first-look photo only cements that fact. “Perfect casting. I won’t hear otherwise,” wrote @LanternUpdates. The sentiment was shared by @showalilfaith, who wrote, “Great casting of Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen.”
Meanwhile, the other side of the fan base believes that Jeremy Allen White looks like, well… Jeremy Allen White. While White is undoubtedly a phenomenal actor, Bruce Springsteen fans and cinephiles alike are still criticizing the casting decision, even more so after the official image. “Wow! Jeremy Allen White looks just like….well, just like Jeremy Allen White,” said @rayfundora. The sentiment has been shared by many online, with @shivmcavoy also stating, “That looks like Jeremy Allen White where is the transformation lmao.”
Deliver Me From Nowhere has officially begun shooting in New Jersey. Alongside White, the biopic also stars Jeremy Stong, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Stephen Graham, Harrison Gilbertson, and Johnny Cannizzaro. White won’t just be acting as the Boss. In June of this year, the actor revealed that he also intends to sing Springsteen’s songs in the movie. “We’re gonna try. We’re gonna try our best,” the actor said.
