Believe it or not, there was a time before Kim Kardashian and her reality TV family were Met Gala mainstays. It’s hard to imagine a KarJenner-free red carpet, but it wasn’t until 2013 that Kim made her debut, followed by her first cover for Vogue in April 2014.
Now, the famous family continues to bring their sexy brand of dressing to the forefront of fashion prom. With the 2024 Met Gala now a memory, take a look back at all of the family’s Met style moments to date.
Kim Kardashian at the 2024 Met Gala
Kim Kardashian made headlines once again with her 2024 Met Gala look, this one a sheer Margiela by John Galliano dress with a lace train featuring leaves and floral accents. The most eye-catching part of her ensemble was her silver corset, giving her a drastically tiny waist. At one point, Kardashian appeared to get help from attendees to make her way up the steps as a result of the constraining dress.
Addressing the cozy sweater atop her gown, she told Vogue the outfit was meant to represent “the wildest night of my life in a garden,” where she just ran out and grabbed her “boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on and had to get to work, and my hair’s all messed up.”

Kim’s 2022 look was literally pulled from American history: the reality star wore Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress. Monre wore the nude Jean Louis design just months before her death in 1962, and it usually lives on display at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum in Orlando.
When the big night arrived, Kim detailed the lengths she went through to make the look work – specifically, and controversially, the crash diet she followed in the weeks leading up the Gala.
“I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein,” she told Vogue on the red carpet, where she was joined by then-boyfriend Pete Davison. “I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.”
