Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder recently invited a fan to join him onstage and perform ‘Yellow Ledbetter’ in Spain.
The fan, Carlos Zamorano from Chile, traveled over 7,000 miles to see two Pearl Jam shows in Barcelona. He waited in line from 4 am both nights and offered Vedder Chilean wine to play with the band. On the first night, he held a sign that said:
“Pls let me play ‘Y.Ledbetter’ on guitar. P.S. hope u liked the Chilean wine.”
Vedder saw the sign but didn’t accept the offer. He took the sign briefly, and security gave it back with a note from him that said:
“Keep playing.”
At the following show, Zamorano showed up with another sign that said:
“I swear I’m good at playing guitar.”
The Fan Finally Convinced Eddie To Play With The Band
Vedder saw him again and told the audience he’d dreamed about a fan wanting to play with him, making a joke:
“This guy has been asking me for a song for two days.”
As Pearl Jam finished their set and prepared to play ‘Yellow Ledbetter,’ the singer asked:
“You really know how to play guitar?”
Zamorano was brought onstage and given a guitar. The band started playing their 1992 hit. Fans shared clips showing the band impressed by his skill and the audience cheering for him.
Zamorano posted on Instagram, writing the following about his experience with sharing the same stage with Pearl Jam:
“I don’t think there are any words that can convey what this moment meant to me, and the joy that seeing these images still gives me. It was a dream come true, and I really enjoyed it to the fullest.”
The band had to cancel shows in London and Berlin because of a health issue. Pearl Jam will continue touring in the United States starting from August 22. Following the US leg, they will also perform three shows in Australia.
