During an appearance on the Howard Stern Show, Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson revealed that Eddie and Alex Van Halen tried to sleep with them.
When Stern asked about the rumors that the Van Halen brothers wanted to have a sexual relationship with them, Nancy replied:
“It was like a publicist’s kind of dream. Like the guys in KISS. Like publicist dream, the Wilson sisters and the guys in KISS.”
How Did Eddie And Alex Make That Offer?
When Stern further questioned how the Van Halen brothers approached them, Ann said:
“I think just during a long night of reveling.”
Nancy added after her sister:
“Yeah, one of many bad ideas one night.”
How Did The Heart Sisters Meet The Van Halen Brothers?
In Heart’s memoir ‘Kicking And Dreaming: A Story Of Heart, Soul And Rock & Roll’ by Jessica Hopper, Nancy recalled how their first met Eddie and Alex:
“At one hotel, we met Eddie and Alex Van Halen. Over the course of a few hours, they had a Kamikaze-drinking contest, followed by a cocaine-snorting fest. Once they were good and loose, they got into a fistfight. Moments later, they were hugging each other and falling down, saying, ‘I love you so much, man.’ They would cycle through this pattern every hour.”
Nancy Gave Eddie An Acoustic Guitar
Heart played with Van Halen several times as the opening act in the 1980s. In 2021, Nancy paid tribute to Eddie in a song named ‘4 Eddie’ from her first solo album, ‘You and Me.’ She told the story behind the track in an earlier interview with AXS TV, saying:
“It’s a minute-and-a-half instrumental acoustic piece for him, a tribute to him because I was the first – when we were touring in the ’80s, he was like, ‘You’re really good on that acoustic guitar, you’re a really good guitar player on acoustic.’ And I said, ‘Why don’t you ever play on acoustic?’ And he said, ‘Well, I don’t really have an acoustic.’ I was like, ‘What?! You don’t have an acoustic? Well, you do know’ – and I gave him one.”
Later, one morning, Eddie called Nancy’s hotel room excited about a song he wrote on acoustic guitar. She found it beautiful and tried to pay tribute to him with her song ‘4 Eddie.’
