Ed Sheeran is receiving criticism from upset fans after being spotted with Johnny Depp earlier this week.
Sheeran, Depp, and actor Russell Crowe were special guests at the three-day Tuscan event celebrating Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli’s 30th anniversary in music. After the event on July 18, Crowe shared a selfie on social media with the two.
Sheeran appeared smiling in the selfie with Depp and Russell Crowe. Now, angry social media users are calling for Sheeran to be canceled over the photo.
Why Is Sheeran Getting Canceled?
Crowe’s social media post caused a heated debate in the comments. Some Twitter users were surprised to see Sheeran with Depp.
Sheeran’s fans criticized the post because of Depp’s controversial reputation after his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard in 2022.
Under Crowe’s post, one user commented:
“I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you! How dare you!”
Another wrote:
“Abusive men stick together.”
One user added:
“Depp should be locked up.”
Depp lost his court case against The Sun in 2020 over an article that accused him of being a ‘wife beater.’ Since then, he has been working to improve his image and get back into acting.
