The soap star was overcome with emotion on Tuesday night (September 5) when she won the Serial Drama Performance for Lola Pearce-Brown’s cancer journey.
“Guys, I love you so much. Without your support, I couldn’t do this. Thank you so much,” she told the enthusiastic crowd.
In a hugely emotional speech, Danielle also thanked the producers who created Lola when she joined the BBC One soap in 2011.

This year, viewers followed Lola’s tragic final months after she discovered she had advanced brain cancer and was ultimately given a terminal diagnosis. The story was conceived in collaboration with Brain Tumour Research and Macmillan Cancer Support to dramatise the authentic experiences faced by those with terminal cancer.
The soap continues to honour Lola’s memory, including airing a cameo from Harold earlier this week as part of gripping scenes with Lola’s on-screen daughter Lexi.
Earlier this year, Danielle praised the soap for giving her such an impactful exit storyline while also acknowledging that it had been “definitely the most difficult thing” she’d ever filmed.

“To put yourself in that mindset, it was really difficult to slow the body down — doing the breathing, everything,” she said.
“The vibe on set was just so respectful. I can’t tell you how respectful it felt, it really was a completely different vibe that I had never felt before. I think it was because everyone on set had been affected by cancer, so it just meant so much to everybody that we got it correct.”
Danielle won the Serial Drama Performance Award over an impressive field of fellow soap stars, including Emmerdale‘s Dominic Brunt and Coronation Street‘s Charlotte Jordan and Maureen Lipman.
