In a new conversation with the Irish Examiner, Duff McKagan revealed that Guns N’ Roses hasn’t been in the studio yet.
“Who’s to say? We haven’t been in the studio,” the bassist said of the new GNR album during the interview.
McKagan added, “I love recording, I love the creative process, I love playing live shows but that ‘a-ha’ thing [in the studio] with Slash’s line – he always finds the right thing. that guy – and Axl is a f*cking master.”
In June, the rocker talked on SiriusXM about whether Guns N’ Roses would put out new music or just remake old songs. He said, “Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. There’s new material. I don’t know how we’re gonna put it out.”
Duff continued, “I think that’s a question too. Like, do you put out a record? Do you just keep putting out singles? I don’t know what the right answer is there in this day and age.”
Guns N’ Roses’ last album was ‘Chinese Democracy’ in 2008. After reuniting in 2016, McKagan, Slash, and Axl Rose released some singles like ‘Absurd’ and ‘Hard Skool’ but no new albums.
Slash also previously confirmed that GNR won’t come together in the studio until 2025. He explained, “I’m going into the studio with the Conspirators, getting a new record done, and then after that, 2025 is all about Guns ‘ Roses.”
“And going forward, I would probably want to put out some bluesy records outside of Conspirators and Guns N’ Roses, things that are more oriented and focused in that way, where I can play that stuff and write that stuff for my own personal satisfaction,” the guitarist also talked about his upcoming plans with Guitar World recently.
Since the pandemic, GNR have reworked some older songs, with live versions appearing on the 2022 EP ‘Hard Skool.’
