Duff McKagan revealed whether Guns N’ Roses would release new material instead of remaking old songs in a recent chat on SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.’ The bassist confirmed working on new content but mentioned uncertainty about the release format:
“Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. There’s new material. I don’t know how we’re gonna put it out. I think that’s a question too. Like, do you put out a record? Do you just keep putting out singles? I don’t know what the right answer is there in this day and age.”
Sixteen Years Since The Last Album
Guns N’ Roses’ last full-length album was 2008’s ‘Chinese Democracy.’ McKagan, Slash, and Axl Rose put out a few standalone singles like ‘Absurd,’ ‘Hard Skool,’ and ‘Perhaps’ after reuniting in 2016 but didn’t announce any new LPs.
The band also reworked several older songs since the pandemic. Live versions of ‘Don’t Cry’ and ‘You’re Crazy’ appeared in the 2022 EP, ‘Hard Skool,’ along with ‘Absurd’ and the title track.
The Band’s Working On The New Record
Meanwhile, Slash released a solo album titled ‘Orgy of the Damned’ in May 2024. The guitarist worked with different vocalists for the record but didn’t include long-time collaborator Myles Kennedy. When asked about this in a chat with Daily Star, he shared:
“It was my own side thing, so I wasn’t dragging my own guys in.”
He mentioned another project with GNR, instead:
“Guns N’ Roses are trying to make their own record and I’m working with them in that capacity but this didn’t involve anyone else.”
Slash will start touring in support of his new record on July 5 in Bonner, MT.
