A dream team is assembling for another action thriller under the Lionsgate banner, with Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan set to lead and Jalmari Helander (Big Game, Sisu) directing. The movie has an intriguing title, Fairytale In New York, and it promises to offer a spectacular cinematic experience that fans simply would not want to miss.
The plot of the Fairytale In New York, as described by Deadline, centers on a very demure cab driver who embarks on a relentless quest through the streets of New York City to retrieve a gift for his estranged son after a life-threatening run-in with a gang of criminals, following which, he wishes to spend Christmas with his family. Set in the city’s criminal underbelly, it poises to be an intense and gripping thriller that showcases Quan’s physical and emotional skills.
Currently, Ke Huy Quan is all set to throw down in Love Hurts, an action comedy slated for a February 7, 2025, release. The actor has gained immense popularity following his award-winning turn in Everything Everywhere All At Once and has taken on a variety of roles that showcase his versatility and prove that his talents extend far beyond the nostalgia of The Goonies and Indiana Jones. His recent TV appearances include Loki and American Born Chinese and Quan is also set to appear in the Russo Brothers’ Netflix movie, The Electric State. Talk about a career resurgence.

Movie critics don’t often love action films, but in the case of the following action thrillers the point is proven wrong.
It is no surprise that Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, jumped at the chance to work with Helander again. In a statement about Fairytale In New York, Fogelson said:
“As soon as we watched Sisu, we knew Jalmari was a filmmaker we wanted to be in business with again. Fairytale in New York is a wildly entertaining, thrill ride of an action film and an emotionally resonant story about family. And every once in a while, an actor hits their prime—Ke Huy Quan is having that moment right now and his deep experience crafting action in front of and behind the camera as well as his exceptional likability make him the perfect actor for this project.”
FlynnPictureCo.’s Beau Flynn is set to produce the upcoming movie. The script for Fairytale In New York is penned by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, who collaborated with Flynn for Black Adam. Scott Sheldon will executive produce, with Shelby Thomas and James Myers supervising the project. With Quan headlining, Fairytale In New York has quickly become a highly anticipated action thriller.
