Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider recently took to X and praised Michael Schenker.
While chatting with the fans on X, one of them asked the singer:
“So here’s a curve ball question – where does Schenker rank in all-time guitarists? Never seems to get mentioned on any ‘ranking’ list but to me, he’s an absolute genius. Thoughts?”
Snider replied by saying:
“Well, he was an influence on Eddie VH and the primary inspiration for every guitar player in the Bay Area thrash scene…so I’d say he’s pretty f*cking important!”
The same user wrote in their response to the rocker:
“Well, once again we agree! Love that – and didn’t know the Bay Area part!”
Dee said Kirk Hammett would also confirm it:
“Oh yeah. Just ask Kirk Hammett.”
Snider Teamed Up With Schenker In His Upcoming Album
Snider praised Schenker as he prepares to release his album ‘My Years With UFO’ on September 20, with many famous artists joining him. Snider is one of the names who collaborated with the guitarist on his new record. Axl Rose and Slash will also make guest appearances on the album. Rose will lend his vocals to ‘Love to Love,’ while Slash contributes guitar on ‘Mother Mary,’ and Snider takes the lead on ‘Natural Thing.’
Here is what Schenker’s label earMusic said in a statement:
“For the first time ever, Michael Schenker returns to his classic years with UFO, revisiting the era that catapulted both him and the British hard rock band to international stardom.”
The statement continued:
“Touring the globe as a teenager, Schenker became a driving force behind some of UFO’s most beloved tracks… During these meteoric years, the albums ‘Phenomenon,’ ‘Force It,’ ‘No Heavy Petting,’ ‘Lights Out,’ ‘Obsession’ and the seminal live album ‘Strangers in the Night’ were released, each contributing significantly to the genre. Now, Michael Schenker is set to celebrate those glory days with his new album, ‘My Years With UFO,’ alongside today’s rock elite.”
The album also includes collaborations with Stephen Pearcy, Roger Glover, Joe Lynn Turner, Jeff Scott Soto, Joel Hoekstra, Carmine Appice, and others.
