In a recent episode of ‘The Roth Show’ David Lee Roth shared the time he was the celebrity judge for the Professional Bull Riders event just outside of Los Angeles in 2016. Roth recalled his experience by sharing:
“I’m a celebrity judge at PBR, and this is how I ‘come buy it natural.’ I had a handful of dogs that I was working on about an hour north of Los Angeles, outside of a little town called Acton. This is horse country. You know who lives up there? [It] is Cesar Millan, the great dog whisperer.”
During Roth’s takeover as a judge at the PBR event, Tanner Byrne, a professional bull rider, welcomed the rocker with a tweet of a photo of them together. Byrne wrote:
“Pleasure to show Mr. David Lee Roth of Van Halen around the PBR scene today.”
Besides judging a PBR event, the rocker went on to share with fans on his show the first time he worked at a ranch and handled animals. David Lee reminisced about the summer of 1966 as he recalled:
“You know, lots of great open outdoor territory up there. In the first time, I was chasing critters was the summer of 1966 Jimi Hendrix, more than love, was in the air that summer. I was up on a little ranch called ‘The Horseshoe Ranch,’ in Bend, Oregon. Careful what you show your kids it could be for life.”
Fans who watched the video commented on Roth’s role as a celebrity judge at the PBR. One fan praised the singer and wrote:
“New chapter in Dave’s life, and still great showmanship in the PBR. Very cool.”
Even though most fans were on board with Lee’s video and what it was about, some others drew attention to the issue of animal abuse. Another fan wrote:
“Love DLR. I hate the animal abuse of rodeos, or anywhere.”
