David Lee Roth and Tommy Lee had a ‘kung fu fight’ over something weird.
“When they bit you, it was like a dog bite,” Mötley Crüe’s manager Doc McGhee recalled about Mötley Crüe members in a new documentary titled ‘Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of ’80s Hair Metal.’ “They’d bite you right in the middle of the forehead, they’d bite you in the arm.”
He talked about the time they bit Eddie Van Halen at the Monsters of Rock festival in Stockholm in 1984. “All of a sudden, Nikki gets up and walks over and bites Eddie on his shoulder. Everybody’s pissed. Fifteen minutes later, Vince goes over to bite him too.”
“Eddie grabs Vince by the face, throws him on the table, they start fighting,” McGhee further shared. “Then Malcolm [Young], from AC/DC, looked at Nikki and said, ‘You bite me, mate, and I’ll chew your f*cking ear off.’”
The manager added, “Nikki grabs him by the hair and slams him against a wall. Tommy and David Lee Roth are up on the table, doing some kung fu fighting or some sh*t like that.”
Lee also previously reflected on the time when Vince Neil bit Eddie Van Halen. The drummer told USA Today, “Motley had this thing we would do if we really loved you: Some people high-five, other people hug. We would bite you.”
“Vince went over and just chomped on Eddie, and Eddie was so mad. He was like, ‘What the f*ck is wrong with you?’ I remember Doc [McGhee] came to us and he goes, ‘Good job, a**holes, I think you’re getting thrown off the Van Halen tour.”
Lee also revealed, “I bit Malcolm Young, and he hated it too. We did that for a couple of years until we were either over it or realized it might be a little dangerous.”
‘Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of ’80s Hair Metal’ is now available to stream on Paramount+.
