David Gilmour recently shared a post on his X account to announce new show dates in the U.K. These shows will mark Gilmour’s first live performances in eight years. David stated in the announcement:
“London shows announced: Royal Albert Hall, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14 & 15 October. First access to tickets for UK/IE residents pre-ordering Luck and Strange from the official David Gilmour UK Album Store at davidgilmour.com (including those who have already done so). General sale, Friday 10 May.”
Gilmour shared the title and details of his new album, ‘Luck and Strange,’ last week. He also released the first single, ‘The Piper’s Call,’ from the upcoming record.
The Pink Floyd guitarist will embark on a U.K. tour to support the album. However, fans are wondering whether David is planning to perform songs from the Pink Floyd catalog.
David Gilmour Has Concerns To Perform Waters-Era Pink Floyd Songs
In a new interview with Uncut, Gilmour expressed an unwillingness to play Pink Floyd’s 1970s-era material. The guitarist didn’t specify the reason behind it, however, his ongoing feud with Waters might have affected his decision. David explained his plan to perform songs from other periods of the band:
“The one we’ve done in the past is ‘Astronomy Domine.’ That’s always entertaining and fun and gets people off to a happy start. There are songs from the [post-Waters] ‘Momentary Lapse of Reason’ and ‘The Division Bell’ albums. I mean, I think ‘High Hopes’ is as good as anything we ever did at any time.”
Gilmour’s setlist for the upcoming live shows is not confirmed yet. But it seems he will be intentionally avoiding playing the songs from the Roger Waters era.
