During a new interview with WSOU 89.5 FM, David Ellefson denied Ronnie Radke’s claims that Metallica uses backing tracks.
“Metallica, they’re not running tape,” the bassist said. “You go see AC/DC, they’re not running tape, you know what I mean? And some bands need to, it’s part of their production. But I like when as much of the human element can happen as possible.”
Last year, the Falling In Reverse frontman argued with a Twitter user about Metallica using laptops on stage, like he does. He had faced criticism from older rockers for using laptops in his live shows.
When the user brought up this issue again and claimed rock was better than other genres, Radke accused them of racism. The user denied being racist and said they were likely richer than Radke.
The singer replied by saying, “You love to segregate music. I know your old a** hates black people. [You are] obsessed with me in your late 40s, 50s. [It] is insane. [You are] exclaiming you have more money than me when you don’t. Viagra doesn’t work for you anymore.”
“[You sit] front row at AC/DC and Metallica shows talking about ‘tracks’ not realizing Metallica uses tracks that I know for a fact and laptops,” he also mentioned Metallica. “You’re a hack. A D leaguer with a giant prostrate.”
Radke also noted the following when someone praised Metallica, “Bro, of course, Metallica is the biggest metal band of all time. However, they use laptops just like me ’cause that’s what professional bands do, and that’s why people that talk sh*t [and] look so f*cking stupid.”
Before that, Radke had announced that his band had to cancel a show because they lost their laptops with all their show preparations. Eddie Trunk criticized the cancellation, calling it a joke and saying they weren’t offering a real live show. Radke defended himself and said other bands use technology too and called Trunk a ‘moron.’
