David Coverdale spoke out on X after being evacuated because of a wildfire.
A user on X shared a photo where they could see the Davis Fire, which has burned over 6,000 acres near Reno. “Last Night…close to the studio…” the Whitesnake frontman wrote by reposting the tweet.
Later, he gave further details, writing, “Well…the winds blew up the fire & we’re evacuated…again…Looks like hell…but we are safe at friends for now…” “Way Too Close For Comfort!!! That’s Why We Were Evacuated…Thank You Payton For Your Fantastic Hospitality…Home Safe…” Coverdale also said by sharing some photos from the wildfire.
In a separate tweet, the singer shared a post wishing people a good day or evening, no matter where they are. “Good Morning To You & Yours, Sir Coverdale May You Have A Blessed & Beautiful Day Pray YOU Are Getting Better You’re Truly Loved & Treasured Mwah,” one fan commented.
“Aye…nothing like evacuating a wild fire with a huge oxygen tank & a anxious kitty strapped to you!!! God Willing a HUGE Nap…XXX,” Coverdale responded to the fan.
The Davis Fire near Reno forced over 12,000 people to evacuate. Firefighters expect the fire to keep spreading because of strong winds. The fire started near a campground in Washoe Valley. Evacuations have been ordered for St. James Village, Galena, and areas south of Mount Rose Highway.
“Davis Creek Regional Park is home to a beloved campground and recreation area, and the loss is heartbreaking, but safety is our priority, and we are happy to report that all campers and park residents were evacuated safely,” Washoe County Parks Superintendent Colleen Wallace-Barnum said in a statement.
He added, “Evacuations are in place and we ask everyone who does not need to be out on the roads to avoid the area and give fire crews room to work.”
The Washoe County School District canceled all classes for Monday, except for a K-12 school in Gerlach. On Saturday, the fire led to power being cut for about 18,700 customers to prevent more fires. Power was still out on Sunday south of Mt. Rose Highway. The fire also closed Interstate 580 between Carson City and Reno, but it reopened on Sunday.
