In a new interview with Chaoszine, Adrian Vandenberg was asked if he had heard about the rumors that his former bandmate David Coverdale would record another album with a few other members from the band. He said:
“I’ve heard that rumor, too, but I haven’t heard it from him. I talk to David every once in a while, you know? He’s never mentioned it, so we have yet to see. I don’t know, and it really depends on what we are doing with this band because I think we have a killer band. And I think… I don’t know if I’m not touring or recording, but it could be fun for a certain period of time.”
Coverdale has been struggling to get back on stage and in the music industry due to his vocal problems. While sharing his concern about Coverdale’s voice, the guitarist said he might get an operation like Jon Bon Jovi did:
“At the same time, I think, ‘Who’s going to sing?’ I don’t know. Well, when I talk to David, he still has his voice. So maybe at home, in a studio, or a controlled environment, he can do it. I don’t know. Or maybe he’s going to do like Bon Jovi and get an operation or something. I don’t know. So, we’ll see. You know, I take it as it comes, like always.”
Coverdale’s Vocal Struggles
After performing in the UK, Ireland, and mainland Europe in May and June 2022, Whitesnake had to cancel the rest of their European tour early. David Coverdale was dealing with health issues from a sinus and tracheal infection.
A month later, Whitesnake also had to cancel their planned North American tour with Scorpions due to Coverdale’s ongoing upper respiratory issues.
Coverdale assured his fans in an earlier interview that Whitesnake is still active, he’s in touch with his bandmates, and they are getting offers for live shows. But he made it clear he won’t commit to anything until he’s back in good physical shape:
“I had a fall recently, which I don’t think helped my… I’ve got two torn rotator cuffs, which would certainly compromise my performance. But arthritis, all this kind of stuff’s kicking in.”
Jon Bon Jovi’s Vocal Operation
In the summer of 2022, he had surgery on his vocal folds to fix issues that were affecting his voice and singing. One of his vocal cords had shrunk to the size of a thumb, while the other had become as thin as a pinky finger.
Nearly two years later, the singer still works with vocal coaches and does voice exercises every day. He said in an interview:
“Every day is the recovery process.”
