In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro addressed the possibility of a new full-length album from the reunited classic lineup. When asked about it, the rocker responded positively.
“That’s more than likely going to happen,” Navarro said.” I mean, we have recorded material. I don’t know specifically the model, if it’s going to be a song at a time, or if we’re going to drop a song, and then a record, or I don’t really know.”
The guitarist also revealed he wasn’t involved in the releasing part of the songs: “I kind of stay out of that stuff. What matters to me most is that this stuff is on vinyl. I don’t know anything about streaming or anything like that.”
Though Navarro is optimistic about the future of the band, one of the members doesn’t think Jane’s Addiction will continue next year.
“In the interview before just now, I was asked about the future, and would there be an album in the next year,” bassist Eric Avery said in an interview with Goldmine. “I think I just came up with the right answer, which is I think if there is a band next year, then there will be new music.”
The bassist explained why he thinks the band might not continue next year: “So I can’t promise that there will still be a Jane’s Addiction next year, but I can say that if there is, there will be new music there. And that’s because we have a lot of ideas at different stages of completion now, and we’re excited about coming back to town after the leg and digging back into writing. That’s where — especially Dave — has really flourished and been really most inspired and most changed, actually, from the past. So we’d be anxious to get to writing some more, and just being creative and getting it down. So yeah, let’s hope that there’s a new album.”
While we wait for more releases from the band, the rockers also released a new song titled ‘Imminent Redemption.’ The band started teasing the song back in May during a small show at Bush Hall in London and officially announced its release on July 17.
